10 ml essential frankincense oil (pure)

Essential Frankincense Oil is steam distilled from the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree (Burseraceae) and is also known as Olibanum. The word derives from the French Franc, meaning "luxurious." Frankincense, along with myrrh, was the first resin used as incense. The tree is native to the Middle East and is said to grow in natural bonsai formation in this dry land. Frankincense symbolizes divinity.

This oil is popular in aromatherapy due to its calming properties. It is said to promote wound healing and prevent scarring. It is used in cosmetic products for facial firming, wrinkle smoothing, and prevention of stretch marks. Essential frankincense oil is used to relieve anxiety, stress, asthma, bronchitis, laryngitis, and severe coughing. It generally strengthens the uterus, soothes labor pains, and alleviates heavy menstruation. It is especially useful during meditation. Avoid use during pregnancy.

The ancient Egyptians burned frankincense as sacred incense and used it as a facial mask. The burnt resin was ground into a powder called kajal, which was used to accentuate the eyes. Eyes outlined with kajal are frequently seen in Egyptian art. The earliest reference to the use of frankincense is found in a tomb inscription of the Egyptian Queen Hatshepsut from the 15th century BC. It was used to fumigate the sick and drive away evil spirits.
