Niaouli oil isn't the most fragrant essential oil. What it lacks in aromatic appeal, however, it makes up for with its therapeutic properties. It's excellent for treating respiratory conditions, skin infections, and acne.
Aromatically, niaouli oil is generally not considered a pleasant essential oil. Its scent is camphorous, earthy, and somewhat harsh. It's never advisable to form an opinion about an essential oil's aroma simply by smelling it directly from the bottle.
The pain-relieving properties of this oil make it a very good analgesic. It relieves pain by numbing the nerves and desensitizing the affected area. It is very effective in relieving headaches, migraines, toothaches, earaches, muscle and joint pain, and sprains.
This oil stimulates blood and lymph circulation, thereby preventing the accumulation of uric acid in the joints, and warms various parts of the body. These two factors together contribute to the relief of rheumatism, arthritis, and gout.
Open wounds are prone to infection because they allow bacteria, fungi, and other microbes to easily enter the bloodstream. Bacteria also reside in the urogenital tract, colon, prostate, intestines, and kidneys, causing infections of the urethra and other sensitive parts of the body. Niaouli essential oil, thanks to its antiseptic properties, can inhibit bacterial growth in these areas and provides good protection against sepsis, tetanus, and infections of other internal organs.
