Peppermint essential oil is said to help with conditions such as asthma, colic, fever, flatulence, headaches, nausea, chest discomfort, and dizziness. It is said to be excellent for mental exhaustion and depression, and thanks to its menthol content, it has a refreshing and stimulating effect. It is good for the skin and is used in lotions to treat sunburn, itching, and inflamed skin. In mouthwashes, it helps combat bad breath and gingivitis. Used in an aroma lamp, it not only has therapeutic properties but also repels mosquitoes and other insects.

Peppermint originates from the Mediterranean region, but is now also cultivated in other countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Findings show that peppermint has been used since ancient times in Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and Japan. According to the Greek sage, the nymph Mentha was transformed into a mint plant by Persephone, her lover's wife, in a fit of rage. According to Pliny, peppermint was used as a crowning decoration at festivals by Greeks and Romans. In England, it has been used medicinally for centuries.
