Latin name: Citrus AurantiumPlant part used: FlowersSource: TunisiaExtraction method: Steam distillationNeroli oil is made from the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var. amara), also known as Neroli Bigarade, and smells similar to bergamot. The flowers are hand-picked and the oil is produced by steam distillation because the flowers are too delicate for water distillation. Due to its wonderful scent and therapeutic properties, it is one of the most popular essential oils. Essential neroli oil has a very calming effect and is said to relieve chronic anxiety, depression, fears, depression, shock, and stress. It is believed to also relieve intestinal cramps, colitis, and diarrhea. Because of its soothing effect, it is good for insomnia, people with palpitations, neuralgia, and dizziness. It is good to heat some of it in an oil burner in the recovery room. On the skin, neroli oil is said to help regenerate skin cells and prevent unsightly scar tissue, promote smoother skin, and combat stretch marks and broken capillaries. It is believed that neroli oil was already used by the Romans. In 1680, Anna Maria Orsini, Princess of Nerola, used the essence of the bitter orange tree to perfume her gloves and bath, thus creating a fashionable new fragrance. From that time on, the essential oil was named after her as Neroli. Folklore says these orange blossoms were used to decorate bridal beds to help newlyweds relax in bed. The production of the oil is expensive and great care is taken to pick the flowers exactly when they bloom.
