Latin Name: Citrus Aurantium Plant Part Used: Flowers Source: Tunisia Extraction Method: Steam Distillation Neroli oil is made from the flowers of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium var. amara), also known as neroli bigarade, and smells similar to bergamot. The flowers are hand-picked, and the oil is produced by water distillation, as the flowers are too fragile for steam distillation. This is one of the most popular essential oils due to its wonderful scent and therapeutic properties. Neroli essential oil is very calming and is said to relieve chronic anxiety, depression, anxieties, depression, shock, and stress. It is also believed to relieve intestinal cramps, colitis, and diarrhea. Due to its sedative effects, it is good for insomnia, people with palpitations, neuralgia, and dizziness. It is good to heat some in an oil burner in the convalescent room. On the skin, neroli oil is said to help regenerate skin cells and prevent unsightly scar tissue, promote smoother skin, and combat stretch marks and broken capillaries. Neroli oil is believed to have been used as early as the Romans. In 1680, Anna Maria Orsini, Princess of Nerola, used the essence of the bitter orange tree to perfume her gloves and bath, creating a fashionable new scent. From that point on, the essential oil became known after her as neroli. According to folk tales, these orange blossoms were used to decorate bridal beds to help newlyweds relax in bed. The oil is expensive to produce, and great care is taken to pick the blossoms exactly when they bloom.
