It has been used to treat skin problems such as abscesses, boils, carbuncles, and acne. It strengthens the immune system and cleanses the body. When used in an aroma lamp (a few drops in water), the vapors of lemon oil are used to treat colds, laryngitis, headaches, and flu. Smelling the aroma is helpful for mental health problems such as depression, irritability, stress, lethargy, and fatigue. It lifts the mood and clears the mind. Adding a few drops to bath water or mixing it into massage oil is said to relieve digestive problems, lack of energy, fatigue, infections, obesity, rheumatism, depression, and stress.
