Organic peppermint essential oil is said to be good for ailments such as asthma, colic, fever, bloating, headaches, nausea, chest congestion, and dizziness. This oil is said to be excellent against mental fatigue and depression and, due to its menthol content, refreshing and stimulating. It is good for the skin and is used in lotions to treat sunburn, itching, or inflamed skin. It helps combat bad breath and gum inflammation when used in mouthwashes. When used in an oil burner, it not only has therapeutic effects but also repels mosquitoes and other insects. Peppermint originally comes from the Mediterranean region but is now also cultivated in other countries in Europe, America, and Asia. Discoveries show that peppermint has been used since ancient times in Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and Japan. According to Greek mythology, a nymph named Mentha was transformed into a mint plant in a fit of rage by Persephone, the wife of her lover. According to Pliny, peppermint was used to crown festivals among the Greeks and Romans. In England, it has been used medicinally for several centuries.
